Shopian Encounter : Youth killed, 3 structures destroyed, Militants escape | KNO

Government Forces late last night called of Turkwangam operation in South Kashmir’s Shopian district after militants managed to escape from the site, local sources said.

Government Forces had launched a search operation in Turkewangam village after input about the presence of militants which resulted in a gunfight. Clashes had erupted in the area between forces and protesters who tried to disrupt the forces operation and help the hiding militants escape. A minor, Muhammad Umar Kumhar son of Mohammad Abdullah Kumhar of Pinjora, was killed after hit by a bullet during clashes with forces. Over 25 protesters sustained injuries while trying to disrupt the forces operation against militants.

Local sources said that today morning people gathered near the gunfight site and found one residential house totally damaged and two cowsheds razed to ground due to heavy mortar shelling of forces. Earlier the forces called off their operation after they found nobody under the debris, they said.
